University boat crew releases naked calendar and video to raise money for charity and help combat gay discrimination.
The members of Warwick University's men's rowing team have released a new calendar – and it's enough to make a young girl – or boy – blush.
Each photo for the 2015 calendar features a selection of the athletes wearing not one thread of clothing. They are variously seen doing headstands, frolicking in a water fight, and hanging out by a jetty.
The calendar has become a yearly institution, selling in 77 countries and raising over £200,000 since it was first produced in 2009. Previously, the proceeds have been used to improve the university's rowing infrastructure, but the 2015 edition will also raise money for Sport Allies, the club's charity that combats homophobia in sport.
"Sport doesn't have to be a homophobic environment," says one naked rower in the accompanying video, which you can watch above. "We're getting naked to make a point."
Another rower explained why the team decided to establish Sport Allies. "It was really the gay market that was supporting the calendar and buying it, and in turn supporting the boat club.
